Kroger Pharmacy is leaving Express Scripts
Kroger has notified Express Scripts that they intend to end their participation in their pharmacy network, effective January 1, 2023. While it is possible that the two sides may come to an agreement prior to that date, it is looking more and more doubtful. If you currently are having your prescriptions filled at Kroger, you can take one of the following actions to avoid any disruption in getting your prescriptions filled:
Select any of the other pharmacies participating in the Express Scripts network (we do NOT cover prescriptions filled at Wal Mart or Sam’s Club) and either have your doctor send over a new prescription to that pharmacy location or have the new pharmacy request a transfer of your existing prescription from Kroger.
Elect to utilize the Express Scripts mail order service, and have your prescribing doctor send them a new prescription for a mail order fill of up to 90 days at a time. Note that certain prescriptions may not be capable of being filled via mail order; but for the majority of maintenance medications, this is a great alternative to in-store retail fills.
